Coach Party (UK) + support Midnight Swimmers

11 05 Café In The Woods

The Coach Party grew up on the Isle of Wight ("it's only a matter of time before you meet pretty much everyone else on the island," says Eastwood) and eventually crossed paths as passionate music fans - working in different venues, playing together and meeting at the same gigs. Coach Party eventually formed after Eastwood and guitarist Steph Norris decided to start playing music together; they quickly realized there was something special about their songwriting and bond, so they were joined by guitarist Joe Perry and drummer Page. Musically, Coach Party are inspired by a wide variety of artists, but always return to Nirvana, Sonic Youth and The Strokes, and contemporary artists such as Wolf Alice, The Big Moon and Tame Impala. Ultimately, though, the main driving force behind Coach Party's music writing and playing is "the often fun struggle of real life." The band still live and work on the Isle of Wight (Jess on the farm in the park, Guy in the music studio and Steph & Joe in the cafes) and describe life on the Island as "going through quite different phases of when it's a great place to be and when it's a really frustrating place to live".
