Four friends - Joel, Jack, Ben and James - decided to join forces in 2016 to create their own musical project. The band's genre is indie rock with elements of pop and alternative. Their work certainly doesn't spare a good dose of guitar riffs and catchy melodies, which perfectly complement the ear-pleasing vocals of frontman Joel Smith.
The band, which has performed at the prestigious Reading & Leeds festival, draws inspiration from iconic names of the indie scene - Two Door Cinema Club, The Wombats and Circa Waves. Despite this, they have managed to develop a distinctive style during their time on the music scene, helped by the fact that they record and produce all their own music. In an interview with NME music magazine, frontman Joel Smith said: "Our music is a reflection of our life experiences and emotions. We try to write songs that speak to the listener and leave a lasting impression."
In addition to their success in the UK, Corella are starting to conquer the European music scene. With 289,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, recognition from the BBC radio station and participation in a number of major music festivals, Corella is a name to watch on the indie rock scene. So not only do they bring a lot of energy to Café V lese, which fans have absolutely fallen in love with them for, but they also bring last year's Once Upon A Weekend, which combines nimble guitars with uncompromising yet emotive lyrics.
