Malena Zavala, a London-based Argentinean native, is one of the most exciting contemporary musical figures, combining ethereal melodies with a diverse range of genres. Her debut album Aliso (2018), recorded and produced entirely self-produced in her parents' garage, received rave reviews from music critics. Described by The Guardian as "hauntingly melancholic guitar pop", Malena's debut album has taken her from the DIY scene to the stage alongside artists such as Lord Huron and Men I Trust. She has also appeared at a number of prestigious festivals - Green Man, Latitude and All Points East - and has received significant support from BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Radio 1 in the past.
On her forthcoming album If This Life Could Start Again, due out next January, Zavala delivers her most mature work yet - an intimate eight-part journey of healing that thematically touches on grief, betrayal, vulnerability, legacy trauma and self-discovery. Musically, it ranges from acoustic folk and synth-pop to funk and rock anthems, with the album's narrative itself constructed as a symbolic climb up a mountain. Opening a new musical chapter with the distinctive singles Saw You Coming, MELT and Hasta Que Te Veo, Malena highlights the style and sound of her new work.
With the anticipated album around the corner, Malena Zavala completes her transformation from a "bedroom pop" musician into an independent artist who sets her own artistic direction through her label Paraná Records. Her music, like herself, is constantly evolving - as evidenced by her unique voice on the contemporary music scene. As part of her extensive tour, Malena Zavala will also perform at Prague's Café V lese, where fans can look forward not only to dreamy, infectious melodies, but also to a truly exceptional visual experience that we recommend not to miss.
