The Dandy Warhols started provoking thirty years ago in Portland and they still do. It's not easy to lose your sass and not become part of the mainstream, even if you succeed massively. This bunch manages to do it, and actually gets better at it. Now The Dandy Warhols have a new record out and they're going to present it in Prague. On July 17th they will come to Lucerna Music Bar. And if you like psychedelia with shoegaze and synth-pop experiments, but still with a bit of real rock'n'roll in it, you will come too! The Dandy Warhols have always straddled genres. It's this fluidity that defines their work and makes it unforgettable. Variability and also their ability to bring satire, experimentation and breaking down musical conventions into their music. But with their new record, The Dandy Warhols are somehow returning to their roots and giving space to raw punk and metal guitars. And that's a good thing.
ROCKMAKER's album was released last year and after the four-hour long alternative blast from 2020 Tafelmuzik Means More When You're Alone, where the title is enough to let the discerning listener know not to expect anything "normal" or perhaps ordinary, we finally got a Dandy Warhol classic. If there is such a thing. The album is playful and has an outlook, yet it is harder and very straightforward. And that's what actually characterizes The Dandy Warhols.
This is a band that could be compared to an explosion of energy, colours and moods. It's not just happy with one or two sadder songs. It's a euphoric band laced with melancholy, it's chaos with precision, it's classic yet incredibly modern and ageless.
