THE UNDERGROUND YOUTH RETURNS TO PRAGUE. AFTER A SOLD OUT CAFÉ IN THE FOREST, THEY HEAD TO FUTURO

The Underground Youth symbolize exactly what their name says. Underground and youth. Underground Youth. Underground youth? With the courage of youth, they venture into genres that don't sell out stadiums, but are nonetheless essential to a large group of people. For people outside the mainstream, for people who are different, strange, elsewhere. And the demand is still there! The last time The Underground Youth came to Prague was in January 2024 and sold out Café V lese. Clear proof that now this music is needed a bit more again, and that's why we have no choice but to welcome them in a bigger place. The Futurum in Smíchov is perfect for this and we will meet there on March 7, 2025. Tickets for 440 CZK can be bought on the Futurum website and GoOut.net. Tickets at the door for 490 CZK. The Underground Youth was formed in 2008 as a creative project of Craig Dryer. They were formed at a time when the need for the underground was not at all what it used to be - in different countries and for different reasons, the great recession had yet to fully erupt and there was a general feeling that the world was doing well. But in every era there are people who - even if they are objectively "well off" - need music like this. Angry post-punk, dramatic guitars, obscured vocals. A bit of shoegaze, psychedelia, inspiration in classics like The Velvet Underground. Poetics in the lyrics, bitterness, misunderstanding. But also some hope. That's what everyone wants. That's exactly what The Underground Youth offer and have been giving to fans for years, at a time when it doesn't seem to be needed so much, but it's needed just as much as in the days of Nirvana in Seattle and the Plastik in Prague. Because somebody always needs this. And this band knows it very well, that's why they have thirteen albums under their belt, and why they are still touring the world and doing "underground".

Moreover, the latest album from 2023 is called Nostalgia Glass. Seriously. And it tries not to cling to the past in that annoying nostalgic way, and yet... Yet the band does make a point of it on the record. Finally, let's just add that the band moved from the UK to Berlin. So it's originally a British, but now Berlin-based, alt-rock band with a drummer and bassist still very fresh off the album. It's a dream come true at a time when bands like this hardly ever come into being because they don't seem to be needed. They are. Come and see for yourself!
