Declan Welsh & The Decadent West have been on the music scene since 2017. As the name suggests, the band is fronted by musician Declan Welsh. He has been a vocal campaigner for human rights since the band's inception. In his lyrics, he tirelessly fights for the country and people he visited in 2016 as part of an exchange visit. This is because he realised that art plays an irreplaceable role in social change. Proof of this is the release of his single Walk a Mile in Gaza, where he held a charity concert with Unite Hospitality to raise over £15,000 to send surgeons to Palestine. He also attended the first global activist conference in South Africa, where he worked with artists from around the world on a plan to collectively contribute to social, environmental and political change.
Over the years, the band has supported the likes of The Reytons, Echo & The Bunnymen and The Proclaimers, earning them a reputation as the future of Scottish rock. They have performed at the prestigious Glastonbury, Isle of Wight and TRNSMT festivals, as well as Germany's Reeperbahn and France's Oberkampf Festival. Radio 1's Jack Saunders said of the band: "Nobody can get the moshpit going like DWDW. I know - I was right in the middle of one!"
With over 4 million plays of their anthem Absurd from their debut album Cheaply Bought, Expensively Sold and regular rotation on stations such as Radio 1, Radio Scotland and Radio X, the band are continually expanding their growth opportunities and refusing to rest on their laurels. Even in periods without scheduled touring, they maintain a very strong bond with their fans, for whom DWDW are not only a musical but also a personal inspiration. In fact, deep, introspective lyrics define their work. The new singles from their upcoming album Explicit Agitation promise an even rawer energy than we got to hear on their debut. Brand new singles Carefree and Inaction are the band's most direct and edgy songs yet. Anthemic, loud, fast and angry - that's what the Explicit Agitation album will be, but also the concert in Prague's Rock Café. Tickets on sale from Tuesday, March 4, 2025 11:00 a.m. at GoOut.net.
