Kishi Bashi is the pseudonym of singer, multi-instrumentalist and composer Kaoru Ishibashi. He was born in Seattle, but grew up in Norfolk, Virginia, where both his parents were university professors. He graduated from Matthew Fontaine Maury High School in 1994, then studied film music at Berklee College of Music before becoming an accomplished violinist. Ishibashi has recorded and toured internationally as a violinist with artists as diverse as Regina Spektor, Sondre Lerche, and most recently with the indie rock band Of Montreal.
Shortly after Ishibashi debuted his solo album "151a" on Indianapolis-based Joyful Noise Recordings, NPR's All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen listed Kishi Bashi as one of his favorite new artists of 2012.
With the announcement of the concert, Kishi Bashi announced a new single from his upcoming fifth album, Kantos, which he will be premiering in the Czech Republic in November 2024. His stop will be Café V lese on 28 November. Tickets for this concert are on sale in the GoOut network from Friday, May 17, 8:00.
