Wombo is an American indie rock band from Louisville, Kentucky, known for their unique blend of post-punk, art rock and psychedelia. The band formed in 2016 when former members of punk-pop band The Debauchees, Sydney Chadwick (bass, vocals) and Cameron Lowe (guitar), teamed up with drummer Joel Taylor. Their music is characterized by its unique, experimental approach, hypnotic melodies and lyrics inspired by surreal stories.
Their debut album, Staring at Trees, was released in 2017 and introduced the band's signature sound, which the Louisville trio has stuck to ever since. But because Wombo's music is often described as a fusion of indie rock, art rock and post-punk, their penchant for experimentation was evident on their very next records, Blossomlooksdownuponus and the successful Fairy Rust. The latter is inspired by the works of Washington Irving and the Brothers Grimm, and has received many positive reviews from music critics, including Pitchfork magazine. It's the unusual rhythms and song structures that make Wombo so special in a field of thousands of indie rock artists.
After performing alongside the likes of The Breeders, DEHD and Deeper, the band is now heading to Prague's Café V lese, where, in addition to hits like Dreamsickle, Snakey and One of These, they will also present their forthcoming album Danger in Fives, which is scheduled for release on 8 August 2025.
